Meet our CTO Martin. He leads our team of talented Devs towards online registration glory. Under his direction, our team continues to bring you useful new features, to fight-off nasty coding bugs, and to ensure that Amilia works like a charm during our biggest registration periods. Get to know him better in this interview:
1. Explain your job at Amilia
As the Chief Technology Officer, I’m in charge of the development team. I make sure they have everything they need to run and evolve Amilia and to make it work flawlessly. I also make sure nothing gets in their way. I still code as much as I can though.
2. What was your last search on Google?
How to add a checkmark in Excel with Aspose .NET. Very technical I know. Google is a developer’s first resource when we have questions.
3. What one thing drives you absolutely crazy?
Waiting. I get impatient when I have to wait. I usually try to find a way to make things faster.
That’s why working at Amilia is also self-fulfilling. I have 3 kids and we register them to lots of activities. As a parent, I don’t want to wait in line 2 hours with another 200 people and then be told there is no more room for that swimming class at 9h15am on Saturdays (yes, I have lived that). We’re changing that at Amilia. We allow you to register using your iPad while you're sitting all cozy by the fireplace in your slippers.
4. You enter an eating contest. What food?
I’m a big fan of lobster. Cheese as well.
5. What’s the wallpaper on your phone right now?
My one year old son upside down with his first two top teeth showing. He looks like a vampire. It's Epic.
6. What word are you guilty of using too often?
I ain’t guilty of that. My vocabulary is quite diverse.
7. What’s your favourite thing about working at Amilia?
Building software that people actually use. I have friends, neighbors and family who use Amilia. It is gratifying to know that what you are building is making a difference. Saving people time makes a difference in their lives.
8. What is your TV guilty pleasure?
Big fan of Game of Thrones. Could not live without Netflix. I just wish all the other streaming platforms could give up and sign their content to Netflix.
9. What’s your favourite Amilia feature?
The waiting list. When an activity is full, people can put themselves on a waiting list. When a spot becomes available, they automatically get notified. It became one of the most popular Amilia features. Just now, I counted 12,845 people registered on waiting lists across all our organizations. Knowing that thirteen hundred people used your feature is quite gratifying.
10. Pick one: Bacon or Nutella
Bacon dipped in Nutella.
