Three Keys to Effective Fundraising

Whether you’re a gymnastics club, swim school or soccer team you’re probably always looking for new ways to fund new equipment, uniforms and travel expenses or maybe your team or club wants to help a local charity or community initiative. Whatever your goal, you want your fundraiser to be effective, efficient and fun!

Here are a few ways to make sure your fundraiser is a success:

1. Make people care.

While you may know how important it is for your team to have new uniforms going into your next competition, everyone else may not. It’s imperative for you to explain where the money is going, why you need it, who will benefit and how exactly they’ll benefit. The more people know about the cause, the more willing they’ll be to contribute.

2. Keep it simple

The simpler it is for someone to donate to your cause, the better. While someone may care about your cause, they may not want to jump through hoops to make a donation. Creating an opportunity for someone to donate while they’re already making a purchase is a great way to do this.

3. Be transparent

People want to know exactly where their money is going and how much of it is directly benefiting your cause. They also want to know that their contribution is making a difference. You may want to post a live update of where you’re at in terms of your goal, how many people have donated and most importantly, show your donors the results of your fundraiser: post pictures on social media, include it in your newsletter.
